NECC NEF Enduro3 -an adventure challenging you to surpass yourself, inspiring assents of team spirit creating youthfulness in every age and exposing the participants to the pristine beauty of the Sahyadries!

NECC-NEF Enduro3 has the distinction of being India’s first and only adventure race and has been attracting increasing participation across varied age group since its inception in 2003. From an initial registration of 48 teams the participation has grown to 200 teams of adventure and nature lovers congregating from across Metros, small towns and asfar as even Kashmir. In just a decade of the event NECC NEF enduro3 has left an indelible foot print and created an incomparable experience for adventure lovers. The challenge only gets tougher as the teams get bigger. We derive our strength from the continuous, firm and motivating support we continue to receive from National Egg Co-ordination Committee and Vencobb. The firm believe of NECC NEF Enduro3 that adventure has no gender restriction but all it requires is opportunity, has caused it to introduce the compulsory participation of minimum one female member in each team.

With 12 different participation categories, 7 adventure disciplines and a total prize money of Rs. 7, 00,000, NECC NEF Enduro3 is a race individuals of diverse age groups ranging from 13 to 65 it is an event eagerly awaited by adventure enthusiast. Along with avid adventure lovers, the race also finds participation from those expose to hard core adventure trails such as teams from National Defence Academy (NDA), Southern Command, College of Military Engineering (CME), Armed Force Medical College (AFMC), INS Shivaji, Lonavala. The event has also been attracting increased corporate participation from Organization like Persistent Systems, IBM, Infosys, BMC Software, TI Cycles Chennai, and Geometric Software.

NECC NEF Enduro3 has been receiving wide print and visual coverage from popular media channels like Channel V, MTV and Star Majha.

 

Enduro3 History

  • 2003 – Inception of NECC NEF Enduro3 with 48 teams
  • 2005 –  inclusion of  IT challenge, corporate and 40+ categories
  • 2007 – Categories of Doctors and Teachers were introduced.
  • 2009 – Introduction of compulsory girl participant in each team.
  • 2011 – Introduction of Police and School  categories

 

Each year has witnessed an introduction of new categories and increased number of participating teams. In the past decade, 12 different categories have been created providing a platform for adventure enthusiast across ages to partake in. From 2009, categories of mixed teams has also exclusive girls teams were introduced and these have been receiving an overwhelming response which only increases every year.

Adventure seekers from across India gravitate towards the NECC NEF Enduro3 every year with an enthusiasm, which keeps the organizing team ever motivated to raise the bar of adversity in the Race, every year.

 

Mandatory Equipments

The following equipments are mandatory and must be carried by each team / competitor at all times between the start and finish line, except the bicycle which is mandatory only during the cycling section.

Only the cycles should be left after the cycling section, or at the end of the cycling section. No other equipment such as hand/ foot pump, tool-kit or any personal equipment, be left with the cycles.

 

Per Team

  • 1 First Aid Kit
  • 1 Bicycle Pump
  • 1 Bicycle repair/ tool Kit
  • 1 Puncture mending Kit
  • 1 Match box
  • 1 Pen knife
  • 1 20 feet (10mm thick) cotton sling
  • 1 compass

 

Per Competitor

 

  • 1 Haversack
  • 1 Race vest / poncho (provided by organisers)                        
  • 1 Helmet
  • 1 Bicycle (for the cycling section only)   
  • Good quality shoes
  • 1 Whistle
  • 1 Water Bottle (at least 1.5 Litter) and food for the Race
  • 1 good quality Torch with Extra Batteries for the torch

 

Race Route and Disciplines

 Enduro3 will take place on 25th and 26th February, 2012. It will be traverse through the astounding, panoramic Sahyadri ranges. The route will run through intimidating forts of Sinhagad, Torna, Rajgad and the adjacent Konkan region. The teams will cover a distance of nearly 200 km during the Race.

 

Race Disciplines for 2012 edition

Race Route, distances and disciplines vary from in each category ranging from a minimum of 40 km to a maximum of 220 km. Each Team shall comprise of 3 members of which one female participating member is compulsory except the All men Teams of Juniors, IT and Open category.

Categories and Registration fees:

 

Small Distance Category (30 to 40km)

Participation of one female team member is compulsory.

Following are the various disciplines and categories under small distance range.

 

Small distance category will have – Disciplines: Trekking (15km), Cycling (25km) and Navigation.

  1. Juniors mix: Schools children from 7th to 10th  (Fee: Rs. 1000 per Team)
  2. Junior All Boys: This category is exclusively for school boys from standard 7th to 10th. (Fee: Rs. 1000 per Team)
  3.  Doctors mix: All three participants in a team should be doctors by profession. (Fee: Rs. 1000 per Team)
  4. Teachers mix: All three teachers can be from same or different schools.  (Fee: Rs. 800 per Team)
  5. Family mix: All three team members should belong to the same family. (Blood Relation)  (Fee: Rs. 800 per Team)
  6. Media mix: Team members can be from any print, television or allied mediums.  (Fee: Rs. 1000 per Team)
  7. 40+ mix: All members should be above 40 years of age. (Fee: Rs. 1000 per Team)

 

Medium Distance Category (Approx 80km)

Following are the various disciplines and categories under medium distance range.

 

Medium distance category will have Disciplines: Trekking (25km), Cycling (65km) River crossing (with the help of rope approx 300m), Rifle shooting and navigation

  1. Collegians mix: All three members can be from the same or different colleges (Fee: Rs. 2000 per Team)
  2. IT mix: All three team members can be from the same or different IT companies (Fee: Rs. 3500 per Team)
  3. IT All Men: All three members can be from same or different IT companies (Fee: Rs. 3500)  
  4. Corporate mix: All three team members can be from the same or different companies.(Fee: Rs. 3500 per Team)
  5. Police mix: All three team members should be working in the state police department (Fee: Rs. 1500 per Team)

Long Distance Category (Approx150km)

Following are the various disciplines under long distance range.

 

Long distance category will have Disciplines: Trekking (35km), Cycling (115km) River crossing (with the help of rope approx 300m), Rifle shooting, Kayaking and navigation

 

Amateur mix: This is an open category but must have at least one Female participant in each team. (Fee: Rs. 2500 per Team)

 

Open challenge Category (Approx 200km)

Following are the various disciplines under Open challenge range.

 

It will have Disciplines: Trekking (45km), Cycling (145km) River crossing (with the help of rope approx 300m), Rifle shooting, Kayaking, Rappelling and navigation

 

Open mix: This is an open category but must have at least one Female participant in each team. (Fee: Rs. 3500 per Team)

 

Open All Men: This category is an open category which must have all three male participants in the team. (Fee: Rs. 3500 per Team)
